Brymbo Lodge U11 were away against Northop Hall Falcons U11s this morning ⚽️
In the first 15min it was a very even contest, the opposition were determined to show some physicality but the girls stood their ground and were not put off their game. The Lodge were guilty of trying to play football through a pretty dogged Northop midfield and this made it harder than it needed to be, but having shown great persistence and determination The Lodge took this period 2-1 thanks to some excellent work by Jessie on the right of midfield.
At the first break the instruction to the girls was to play the ball wide, avoid the opposition midfield. The girls listened to the instruction and what a difference this made in the performance. Megan playing on the left of midfield took charge of the game and was simply unstoppable, the opposition had no answers and were chasing shadows for next 15 min. However, this was not a one player performance, the most impressive factor of this period was the way the girls played, they played fast paced attacking football and attacked in numbers.
In 3rd 15 the girls continued to attack and attack in numbers, but it was Freya who stole the show by rounding off a fine team performance by scoring 4 goals in this period.
In last 15 minutes the legs were getting tired and this period ended goalless, but over the duration of the game The Lodge scored 10 goals conceding 2.
Today’s team.
Goalkeeper.
Charlotte, with both Elise and Mila unavailable today and with Charlotte been under the weather last couple of days, showed why she is such a team player by putting her hand up to play in goal today.
Defence.
Florence, showed some lovely touches, rarely gives the ball away started many attacks from defence.
Seren, commanding performance at the back, picked up a knock early on but kept going to the end.
Hallie, strong and solid at the back today, won all of her duels.
Midfield.
Mali, it was pretty tasty in the middle of park early on with Northop trying to show some physical dominance , but Mali kept her head and stood her ground. Could have scored if not for the Northop keeper pulling off a superb save.
Hannah, covered a lot of ground today and played some nice balls forwards. 1 goal & 1 assist.
Leanne, unlucky not to score hitting the post with a shot. 1 assist.
Beth, the ball is like a magnet to Beth’s feet, so comfortable on ball in tight situations. 1 goal & 2 assist.
Centre Forward.
Mia – some very intelligent running up front, held the ball up well and brough others into the game. 1 goal.

Opposition Coach Selection
Freya – Clinical in font of goal with 5 on the day. Freya has shown us she can score goals by the barrow load before, but the pleasing aspect of todays goals was the variety of goals she scored today. ‘Couple of tap-ins’ as well as one where she ran half the length of pitch with only the keeper to beat, kept her cool and slotted the ball into the net with ease.
Player of Match
Megan – ‘Our little Gareth Bale’, today she scored a fantastic goal to cap a fantastic individual effort. Her goal resembled one of Bale’s goals against Inter Milan, she picked the ball up in own half beat the opposition with shear pace before placing a shot across the keeper in the far bottom corner, magical.

Jessie – Probably her best games to date in a Brymbo shirt, we have asked Jessie to be a little more patient in the final 3rd , today all the hard work paid off with 3 assist and 1 goal. Top effort.
Northop were great hosts today
Well done girls ⚽️
